Still the One! 2008 MAMB Conference & Exposition Draws Over 800 Attendees

Over 800 mortgage industry professionals attended MAMB's recent 2008 Conference and Exposition, demonstrating that MAMB is still the primary source mortgage professionals turn to when searching for networking opportunities, education, and marketing opportunities.

Visiting from West Virginia, NAMB President-elect Marc Savitt was thrilled with the "fantastic attendance" and "exciting atmosphere." Stand out from the crowd with MAMB's new Lending Integrity Seal! This prestigious seal is available to all MAMB and NAMB members and will help distinguish you from other non-member brokers. The seal represents the fact that you abide by the MAMB/NAMB Code of Ethics and Policies and therefore have lending integrity. Obtaining the seal is very simple! Once you become a member, you must simply sign and return the Lending Integrity License agreement to MAMB Headquarters and once MAMB is contacted by the NAMB, your seal will be available! President of MAMB

Hunter Bloch of Annapolis First Mortgage in Hanover (shown left in the adjacent picture) was elected and installed as the new volunteer president of the Maryland Association of Mortgage Brokers (MAMB) during ceremonies as part of the 2008 Conference at the Center Club in Baltimore on March 11. He succeeds Charles DiPino of Universal Trust Mortgage in Columbia as the leader of the 1,300-member non-profit professional organization. HR 3915 Passed in the House of Representatives

Success! YSP PRESERVED. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the final version of H.R. 3915, the "Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act of 2007" on a vote of 291 to 127. Policy Alert – RESPA/FHA Existing Policy Regarding Non FHA Approved Mortgage Broker Fees in FHA Mortgage Transactions

The subject alert reconfirms existing FHA policy regarding the use of non FHA-approved mortgage brokers. FHA loan origination services must be performed by a FHA-approved lender or FHA approved mortgage broker (loan correspondent). A loan correspondent may be compensated for the actual loan origination services it performs either directly by the consumer or indirectly by the FHA approved lender without being in violation of either the RESPA statute and regulations or FHA regulations.
