| MEMBERSHIP |
The
Membership Committee is comprised
of 11 MAMB members whose work is to
promote diversity and activities among
the members to enhance the services
members can offer one another. Membership
recommends to the Board of Directors
activities that would be of interest
to our members and, to create awareness
among members of the activities offered
by MAMB. We promote that active participation
in our mortgage profession can lead
to enhancing your business professionalism
among your peers and the community
as a quality provider of residential
lending services. |
| MEMBER
SERVICES & BENEFITS |
This
Committee searches for value added
services and discounts for Brokers
by developing affiliations with outside
vendors and service providers. These
affiliations will bring discounts
to our members as well as in certain
circumstrances generate income in
order to support the association. |

10 MAMB members, your peers, who are
committed to providing classes to
enhance and improve your business.
MAMB offers a variety of courses including
Fair Lending, State and Federal Compliance,
Ethics, Marketing, Commercial Lending,
FHA, and other topics of timely interest
for our members. This training not
only provides knowledge, it prepares
you to become certified as the holder
of the CMC, CRMS, or other recognized
designation for exceptional members
of our industry. Remember, knowledge
is power! |
| CONVENTION |
The
annual MAMB Convention is held every
spring. Every year over 1,000 attendees
are drawn to the convention to visit
with over 100 exhibitors, both lender
and Industry supporters. The convention
is the place to learn technological
advancements and legislative changes
that affect our business. The convention
also creates a great opportunity to
network and socialize with your peers. |
| GOLF |
The
golf committee plans two golf outings
per year. The spring outing is held
on one course and the fall outing
(in memory of past president Jeffrey
Wolpe) is held on two courses to accommodate
additional golfers. All proceeds of
the golf outings go to help fund MAMB's
legal and lobbying efforts. |
FEDERAL
LEGISLATIVE |
The
National Legislative Committee of
MAMB interfaces with the National
Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB)
regarding all federal legislation
and regulations. Members of the National
Legislative Committee form the grassroots
base to lobby and organize fund-raisers
for Maryland's Senators and Representatives.
The National Legislative Committee
is also MAMB's liaison to HUD for
RESPA, the Federal Reserve for TILA
and all other Federal agencies enforcing
laws which affect mortgage brokers.
The National Legislative Chair must
report all proposed changes of significance
at the Federal level to the MAMB Board
of Directors. |
STATE
LEGISLATIVE |
The
State Legislative committee works
closely with MAMB's lobbyist to follow
all statewide legislative issues and
disseminate legislative information
to the members. The Committee meets
on an as needed basis during Maryland's
legislative sessions and discusses
pending legislation that might impact
the industry. Members of the Committee
then meet with Senators and Delegates
in an attempt to educate them on our
issues and testify when needed at
Bill Hearings in front of the Senate
Finance Committee and the House Economic
Matters Committee. In addition, the
committee holds various fundraisers
and events to support the MAMB PAC
and foster the Association's relationships
with Members of the Maryland Senate
and House of Delegates. |
| TECHNOLOGY |
